Simon Smith

Solicitor

Simon joined Perry Hay & Co. in November 2010. He was admitted in 2001, undertook his training at a medium sized London firm and has since specialised in all aspects of family law, with a particular emphasis on financial claims arising on divorce, cohabitation disputes (disputes concerning property between unmarried couples), disputes concerning children and making (and defending) claims for their financial provision.

Simon also has extensive expertise in securing injunctive relief to preserve assets, to offer protection from domestic violence and to prevent international child abduction. Simon is fully conversant with the particular challenges which arise in financial proceedings from insolvency, benefits under a trust and/or a family business.

Simon is acutely aware that his expertise is likely to be sought at a time when emotions are raw and decisions need to be taken under pressure. He prides himself on being accessible and available to his clients. Simon believes that his function is to provide his clients with sound advice and guidance. His professional goal is to meet the objectives of his clients with as little exposure as possible to acrimony and cost. Simon will seek out a compromise where available: but will fight hard for his clients where it is not.

Simon is married with a young family and lives in Richmond. He enjoys fine wines, watching rugby and keeps fit.
